Thomas Lear joined the Northern Colorado Baseball staff inAugust 2011 as Carl Iwasaki's Director of Baseball Operations. Hecame to Greeley after earning in 2011 his bachelor's degree inhumanities/fine arts from Wyoming.
Lear's baseball experience includes playing at the high schoolvarsity and American Legion levels and working with the ColoradoRockies (facilities coordinator), the Columbus Catfish (publicrelations/media relations & promotions assistant) and theLaramie Colts Baseball Club (team operations intern).
He also has experience working in others of athletics, includingspending time with the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats (operations intern)and Wyoming Athletics (sports information/media relationsintern),
With the Bears Lear assista Iwasaki and his assistant coacheswith on- and off-field baseball operations, including developingand maintaining spreadsheets and databases to track playerstatistical information and other office-related tasks to assist inthe advertisement of UNC Baseball Prospect Camps and to facilitatethe operation of Northern Colorado Baseball.
He also assists during team practices, hitting sessions andintrasquad games and works with the Bears coaches to develop andimprove talent evaluation skills and assist with the planning andbooking of team travel, including creating accurate itinerary oftravel plans for coaching staff, arranging food services andvarious other duties.
Lear lives in Greeley and is pursuing his master's degree insports administration at Northern Colorado.
