2013: Came into the season on three preseason recognition lists… Served as the heart of the defense while starting 11 games… Led the team with 106 tackles; 42 solo and 64 assisted… Recorded 3.5 tackles for loss of 10 yards, 1.5 sacks for 6 yards, two pass break ups and one quarterback hurry… Totaled at least 11 tackles in four games, putting up a season-high 15 at Idaho State on Oct. 12.
2012: Named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List, as well as the preseason All-America Second Team by both The Sports Network and College Sporting News... Suffered a season-ending injury in the fifth game of the season against Montana... Recorded at least eight tackles in all five games, hitting double figures in two... Still ended the year fourth on the team in total tackles... Intercepted his first career pass against Colorado Mesa.
2011: Played in all 11 games for the Bears... Started every game at middle linebacker... Recorded 145 tackles, which ranked fourth in the nation among FCS defensive players... 56 of his tackles were solo stops... 10.5 tackles for loss... Had 19 tackles in the game against Weber State... Accounted for 10+ tackles in 9 of the 11 games... 2nd Team All-Big Sky linebacker... Had 15 more tackles than anyone else in the Big Sky Conference and was one of six players to top 100 on the season... Also ranked in the top 10 in the league statistics in tackles for loss (10.5) and fumbles recovered (2).
2010 (at Kansas State): Played in one game, recording one tackle for the Wildcats against Missouri State.
2009 (at Kansas State): Redshirted.
High School: A three-star prospect and the 65th-ranked outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals out of Sierra High School... Named first team all-conference and all-area as a junior and senior... Also earned all-state 4A honors as a senior... Combined for 28 sacks his final two seasons, including 16 as a junior, and recorded 73 tackles his senior campaign... 2008 PrepColorado 4A All-State... Also won two letters in basketball and qualified for state in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Personal: Born April 12... Son of Kristina Bumpas... Majoring in communications with a minor in sociology... Clarence had a son, Justyce Elijah, who was just 23 months old when he tragically passed away on June 8, 2013.
