Women Win UIW Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Regina Mpigachai paced Northern Colorado to a victory at the UIW Invitational on the course at Wincrest Golf Club Friday.
The Bears won the 2022 UIW Invitational – the last time they ran in the event.
Mpigachai won the individual title by more than 72 seconds, while Summer Olson and Brooke Elfert placed in the top 10. The Bears 42 points bested runner-up Texas State by 10 and 30 over host UIW in third.
Mpigachi clocked a time of 16:49.4 on the 5K course, while Olson placed fourth in a time of 18:13.4. Elfert ran an 18:25.7, the sixth-fastest time.
Julia Thigpen and Chloe Rylance crossed the line in 15th and 16th. Thigpen finished in a time of 18:47.3, while Rylance inked an 18:51.1.
Shantell Hafner ran a 19:04.2, good for 22nd, while Claire Nowels rounded out the scoring in 40th, with a time of 19:59.3.
In men's action, Isaac Rascon crossed the line in 29th, with a time of 20:34.3 and helping UNC to a fourth-place finish in the nine-team field.
Cale Schafer stopped the clock in 20:37.5, placing 32nd, while Noah Osmond clocked a 20:52.2, three spots behind.
Colton Magnuson placed 37th in a time of 20:58.4, while Hunter Kenney ran a 21:10.5, recording a 44th-place finish.
Nathan Plant inked a time of 21:20.5, while Dylan Wilson rounded out the scoring with a time of 21:50.6. The duo crossed the line in 46th and 64th, respectively.
