Barashkoff’s pair of doubles propel Bears past Tigers

STOCKTON, Calif. - It was a Saturday sweep for Northern Colorado softball as they defeated Pacific by the scores of 5-2 and 3-1. The pair of wins extends UNC's win streak to five games.

Alexsi Barashkoff had a pair of RBI doubles on the day to lead the team. Her first came in the third inning of the first game when she found the gap in right center to score Kaileigh Holland and Riley Plogger to make it a 3-0 UNC lead. Barashkoff ended up 2-for-5 with 3 RBI and a walk on the day.

Holland drove home the first run of the game.

Paola Villegas had a two-run double in game one as well to put the Bears up 5-1.

Barashkoff hit her second double of the day in the first inning of game two. This one to left field scoring Jaycie Gandert.

Pacific tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, but UNC responded in the sixth.

The first two batters reached base and Villegas moved both into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. The Jaydens, Gandert and Mercado brought home the final runs of the game with a sacrifice fly and single.

The freshman duo of Meghan Golden and Isabelle DiNapoli shut down the Tiger's bats with complete game wins. DiNapoli allowed just three hits and struck out six. Golden added in two Ks.

What's Ahead
Northern Colorado closes our the weekend with another doubleheader in Stockton. They will face Pacific at 11 am and Saint Mary's at 1:15 pm.
