Brockmann homers twice Friday

Catcher Emma Brockmann homered twice, but UNC fell to Idaho State
POCATELLO, Idaho – Emma Brockmann homered twice on Friday, but her fireworks were not enough as Northern Colorado fell 6-5 and 10-2 to Idaho State in the doubleheader.
Brockmann finished her day going 3-for-4 with all three hits going for extra bases. She scored three times and drove in five runs.
Game 1 Recap
The game was scoreless entering the fourth inning when Northern Colorado strung together three straight one-out hits. Brockmann started the rally with a double to right. She scored two batters later when Alison Steinker singled to right to score her.
Following an ISU two-run bottom of the fourth UNC reclaimed the lead in the fifth. Lauren Strathern came home on an error by the Bengals shortstop to tie the game at two. Emma Brockman launched her first long ball of the day to left center making it a 5-2 game.
Idaho State scored a run in the bottom half of the inning and took the final lead at 6-5 in the sixth plating three runs.
Game 2
Unlike game one, no time was wasted for either team to score. Brockmann started the scoring with a two-run home run scoring Mady Young alongside herself for an early 2-0 lead.
Unfortunately for the Bears Idaho State's bats stayed hot after the comeback in game one scoring 10 unanswered runs on 12 hits.
Game Notes
- Fresh off her second Big Sky Player of the Week honor, Mady Young went 3-for-7 scoring twice on Friday. She had one double.
- Young extended her hit streak to a season-best 11-games.
- Erin Caviness continues to mow down batters striking out five Bengals on the day.

Northern Colorado aims to end the regular season on a high note on Saturday when they face Idaho State at noon.
