Longball not enough for softball Saturday

Mady Young and Emma Brockman hit back to back home runs on Saturday
Emma Brockmann concluded a strong weekend going 3-for-4 in the game with a home run and double. For the weekend she hit .750 with three home runs and two doubles. Five of her six hits were for extra bases as she drove in seven runs and scored four times.
Northern Colorado stuck first scoring four runs in the third. UNC put together a two-out rally as Jayden Mercado flipped the lineup with a single to left. Lauren Strathearn's speed earned her yet another infield hit setting the table for senior Mady Young.
Young delivered with a three-run home run over the fence in left center. Brockmann made it back-to-back home runs with a solo shot to put the Bears up 4-0.
ISU responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
Like Friday, the Bengals used one big inning to take control of the game. ISU scored six runs in the fifth and never looked back.
The Bears tried to mount a seventh inning rally, but the gap was too much. Brockmann doubled to score Katie Simonsgaard and Mady Young also scored in the inning to make it a 9-6 final.

- Paola Villegas had a multi-hit game including a double.
- UNC out-hit Idaho State 10-9.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado will compete in the Big Sky Tournament in Ogden, Utah next week. The final seeding will be announced by the conference later today.
