GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado softball team will look to take its hot bats on the road this weekend when they head to Hillsboro, Oregon to take on Portland State. The Bears are coming off an impressive outing against North Dakota where they scored 37 runs in the three games improving to 3-3 early in the conference season.
"This week's conference games at Portland State, is a good opportunity to keep our momentum moving forward," said head coach Shana Easley. "Our offense did a great job this past weekend against North Dakota and I expect us to continue that going into this weekend. Every conference game is so important that we need to continue to focus on being at our best each pitch in this series."
Portland State comes into the game with a overall record of 7-25 and a Big Sky record of 1-5. The Vikings were swept last weekend by Weber State where they gave up 21 runs in the three games.
PSU will bring hitting threat Ashley Smith with them this weekend who is hitting .350 on the year in 80 at-bats, with nine RBI.
The first two games of the series will be played on Friday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.The series will wrap up on Saturday with the first pitch being thrown at 1:00 p.m.
