GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado softball team was business as usual on Saturday taking on North Dakota in the final game of the series.

The bats stayed hot for the Bears who won by a score of 7-1, moving to 3-3 in conference play.

"These three wins are so important moving forward this year," said head coach Shana Easley. "We have gone through some struggles recently and to see this team come out this weekend and play the best they have all year makes me very proud of them."

The Bears jumped on top of ND in the first inning posting two runs.

Melissa Marcovecchio pounded a solo shot over the right field wall for her third homerun of the year and her 10th RBI of the season.

Rachel Johnson increased her batting average to .318 on the year, while also picking up her eighth RBI of the year after she plated Mikayla Duffy, giving UNC the early 2-0 lead.

Johnson kept it going, knocking in two more runs in the third inning off a homerun.

The long ball was Johnson's third of the year.

The Bears led North Dakota, 5-0 after three innings of play.

Jayme Reddacliff had another stellar performance on Saturday picking up her sixth win.

Reddacliff went all seven innings from the circle, giving up just one run on eight hits while also retiring one.

Northern Colorado looks to keep the momentum going this weekend when they take on Portland State on the road.

Games will start at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.on Friday and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Gordon Faber Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon.
