2016: Newsom played all eleven games for the Bears in 2016 and was arguably the best defensive player on the team. He led the team in tackles (121), tackles for loss (8 for -47 yards), and sacks (3.5 for -38 yards). Newsom recovered a fumble against Rocky Mountain College and broke up passes against Sacramento State and Portland State.
2015: Newsom was a transfer from Washington State in 2015...He came it at semester and participated in spring ball, and it didn't take him long to earn a starting role at linebacker... He finished fifth on the team in tackles with 71 (29 solo 42 assist), 6.5 TFLs and 1.0 sack.
2014(at Washington State): Walked on to the team at WSU during the fall and redshirted.
2013(at Feather River CC): Played LB at Feather River CC.
