Late Heroics Lift Bears to Doubleheader Split

GAME ONE: Idaho State 10, Northern Colorado 4
Northern Colorado struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of an Idaho State error to grab an early lead.
The Bengals responded in the fourth inning with four runs, powered by three home runs, to take control of the game. Idaho State added a run in the fifth before breaking it open with a five-run sixth inning to extend its lead to 10-2.
The Bears continued to battle late, scoring once in the fifth and adding two runs in the sixth on an RBI single from Amailee Morales and a sacrifice fly from Alina Quinney.
Morales led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while KK Christie, Katie Walling and Emma Harrington each recorded hits in the loss.
GAME TWO: Northern Colorado 4, Idaho State 3
Northern Colorado bounced back in the nightcap, rallying for a 4-3 walk-off win to earn the split.
The Bears plated runs in the first and second innings, with RBI hits from Katie Walling and Amailee Morales helping build an early advantage.
Idaho State answered with runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 3-2 lead heading into the final frame.
In the bottom of the seventh, Northern Colorado mounted the comeback, capitalizing on a defensive miscue before Krista Francia delivered the game-winning two-RBI double to secure the 4-3 victory.
Francia led the Bears with two hits and two RBIs, while Morales finished with three hits and Walling added two hits.
In the circle, Grace Algrim earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing three runs on eight hits.
The Bears and Bengals will meet tomorrow for the rubber match at 12 p.m.
