UNC Drops Pair of Games

WICHITA, Kan. – The Northern Colorado softball team lost a 1-0 extra-inning game to South Dakota State before falling 6-1 to Wichita State on Friday afternoon.
Erin Caviness pitched a fantastic game against the Jackrabbits, keeping them scoreless through 7.1 innings, while only conceding three hits and no earned runs. She also struck out 10 batters during the contest.
In the second game of the day, Alexsi Barashkoff got the Bears first run of the day, hitting her fourth home run of the season to put the Bears on top in the first inning. Unfortunately, the No. 23-ranked Shockers scored six-unanswered runs to take the victory.
Freshman pitcher Grace Algrim came in as relief, throwing the final two innings without conceding a hit.
The Bears return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon for a rematch against South Dakota State. First pitch is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. (MT).
