UNC Soccer Returns Home to Host Eastern Washington and Idaho

GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Soccer will return to Greeley as they host Eastern Washington and Idaho on Friday and Sunday, respectively, for a full weekend of soccer at Jackson Stadium.

Sunday's game will also act as Senior Day where the nine graduating Bears on the team will be recognized in Maddie Duren, Samantha Blanchard, Mckenna Wilson, Haley O'Nan, Kalen Niedling, Carly Fetters, Hailey Collier, Britney Donais, and Laurel Hagen.

Scouting the Eagles
The Eastern Washington Eagles will make their way to Greeley with an overall record of 5-5-2 on the season and a perfect conference record of 2-0. The Eagles will come to town following two consecutive home conference victories over Idaho State and Weber State, 1-0 and 3-1, respectively.

Madison Kem, Maddie Morgan, and Kamryn Willoughby are all notable Eagles to watch in the game. Kem leads the team with three goals this season, including one in the win over Weber State. Morgan follows closely behind with two goals and three assists this season. Freshman goalie, Willoughby, has recorded 52 saves in 2022 and three shutouts, including the recent win over Idaho State.

Northern Colorado has an 11-5-4 record against Eastern Washington. This includes a 6-2-1 mark at Jackson Stadium, a 4-3-3 mark in Cheney, and a 1-0 mark on neutral turf. The Bears enter the match with a two-game winning streak against the Eagles. In their most recent matchup last season, UNC got the better of EWU with a 1-0 shutout victory in Greeley.

Head Coach Jeremy Clevenger's Idaho Vandals make the trip to Jackson Stadium with a current record of 7-1-2 and an undefeated conference record of 2-0. They enter the match off two straight 1-0 shutout victories over Weber State and Idaho State. However, they will also take on Montana on the road on Friday before facing the Bears come Sunday.

Some players to watch for the Vandals include Kira Witte, Maddy Lasher, and Kylie Hummel. Witte, the team's goalie, recently earned a career high ten saves in the game against Weber State and her eighth consecutive shutout against Idaho State. Lasher leads the team with three goals and earned an assist on the game winner against Idaho State, while Hummel scored the game winner, marking her first goal of the season.

UNC has an all-time record of 4-6-2 against Idaho. When competing against the Vandals, they are 2-2 at home, 0-4-2 while away, and 0-1 at neutral sites. Most recently, the Bears fell to Idaho in Moscow by a single goal, 3-2, last season. Northern Colorado now hopes to redeem themselves against their opponents at Jackson Stadium come Sunday.
