Bears Set for Front Range Derby Against Wyoming

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado women's soccer continues its opening stretch of the 2026 season Sunday as the Bears welcome Wyoming to Jackson Stadium for the Front Range Derby. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. MT.
FRONT RANGE DERBY
Northern Colorado and Wyoming renew a familiar regional matchup Sunday, continuing a series that has brought the two programs together consistently over the years.
The Front Range Derby dates back to 2009, when the programs began competing for the rivalry trophy. The matchup has remained a familiar one for the Bears, with the proximity of the two schools and connections between the programs adding to the rivalry.
Wyoming has also recruited heavily from Colorado over the years, bringing plenty of familiarity to the matchup. Cowgirls head coach Josh Purdum has ties to Greeley after previously serving as an assistant coach at Northern Colorado and graduating from UNC.
The Bears will look to flip the result from last season's meeting in Laramie, where Wyoming came away with a 1-0 victory.
LAST TIME OUT
Northern Colorado's matchup against Denver on Thursday was unable to be completed after severe weather moved into Greeley. Heavy rain and lightning eventually forced play to be stopped after a promising start from the Bears.
UNC now quickly shifts its focus to Wyoming and another early-season opportunity at Jackson Stadium.
UP NEXT
Following Sunday's matchup with Wyoming, the Bears continue their non-conference schedule against Colorado State on Sunday, Aug. 23, at Jackson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. MT.
