The Bears host their final home games of the year Thursday and Friday
GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Softball will close out the regular season as they host Idaho State in a three-game series on Thursday and Friday.
Â
The last time the Bears took the field, they claimed a series win against Montana on the road, 2-1. Their first victory came in a doubleheader in a high-scoring game, 11-6. They then went on to clinch the series with a 6-4 win in the final game of the series. Riley Plogger was instrumental to the team's success in the third game, tabbing three RBIs that helped the team pull off the win.
Â
Northern Colorado will now face their last Big Sky opponent of the season, Idaho State, on their turf. The three-game series marks the final regular season series for the team before the Big Sky Tournament next week. UNC can be anywhere from the No. 2-6 seed in the Big Sky Tournament in Ogden, Utah.
Â
The two teams are closely matched heading into the week, as UNC is currently ranked fourth with an 8-7 record in the Big Sky while the Bengals are just behind in fifth at 7-8.
Â
First pitch of a doubleheader is set for Thursday at 4 pm MT. The final game of the series will then kick off at noon on Friday as the team looks to end the regular season with a bang in front of home fans at Gloria Rodriguez Field for the last time this year. Prior to Friday's game UNC will honor its five seniors in Katie Simongaard, Delany Hull, Kaleigh Holland, Kathleen Ingram and Riley Plogger.
Â
Following this series, the Bears will travel to Ogden, Utah to compete in the Big Sky Tournament May 12-14.
