GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Softball will kick off its postseason run for a conference title against Idaho State in the first game of the Big Sky Tournament on Wednesday. The Bears and Bengals are set for a 9:30 am first pitch in Ogden, Utah.
Â
Northern Colorado concluded its regular season with an overall record of 22-28 and a conference record of 10-8.
Â
UNC's competition will be no strangers in the first game of the Big Sky Tournament, coming straight off of a three-game series against Idaho State to close out the regular season. The Bears won the series in Greeley last weekend 2-1.
Â
In their first victory over the Bengals, UNC pulled out an exciting 3-2 win thanks to a two-run home run from Paola Villegas and solid pitching from Meghan Golden. The third game of the series was dominated by the Bears, to earn a 7-1 Senior Day victory. Riley Plogger's home run to give them an early lead and Isabelle DiNapoli's performance from the circle were instrumental in closing out the regular season on a high note.
Â
Going into postseason play, the Bears look to capitalize on the momentum of their two-game win streak and claim yet another victory over the Bengals.
Â
UNC is the No. 4 seed in the tournament while ISU is the No. 5. Weber State claimed the top seed with just one conference loss this season, coming from the hands of the Bears.
Â
With a win, Northern Colorado would face WSU at 2:30 pm Wednesday.
Â
The whole Big Sky Tournament will be aired on ESPN+.
