Softball Drops Big Sky Opener

Northern Colorado dropped its Big Sky Tournament Opener against Idaho State
OGDEN, Utah – Northern Colorado softball opened up the Big Sky Tournament Wednesday morning falling to Idaho State 7-2.
UNC had its opportunities throughout the game but was unable to capitalize leaving 10 batters stranded. Riley Plogger, Kaileigh Holland and Alyssa Wenzel recorded multi-hit games.
Plogger was 3-for-4 on the day scoring once and recording a double. She scored in the seventh thank to Wenzel's second hit of the day. Holland also had a pair of hits. Plogger extended her reached base streak to 17 games, while teammate Paola Villegas pushed hers to 18 with a walk.
UNC's first run of the contest came on a productive groundout from Hannah Knox to score Katie Simonsgaard who was pinch running for Holland. Holland led off the inning with a single to left field.
Idaho State jumped out to a 4-0 lead through three and a half innings thanks to a solo home run and a two-run home run.
What's Ahead
It's win or go home time for Northern Colorado. The Bears will play their elimination game against either Sacramento State, Portland State or Montana. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 2:30 pm MT. The game will stream on ESPN+.
