Northern Colorado takes on Portland State in Big Sky play Friday and Saturday
GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Softball will travel once again as they take on Big Sky competitor Portland State on the road. The Bears are set to play a three-game series with a double header on Friday, followed by one game on Saturday.
Â
UNC will bring the heat to Portland, coming off of a series sweep of Southern Utah, and a 3-1 run over Pacific and Saint Mary's last weekend.
Â
In California, the team started strong sweeping Pacific in a double header, 5-2 and 3-1, giving them a five-game winning streak. Alexsi Barashkoff led the Bears in the doubleheader with a pair of RBI doubles and a total of 3 RBI on the day.
Â
The Bears went on to split their second double header with a loss against Pacific and a 6-2 win over Saint Mary's to close out the series on a high note. This victory was thanks to a three-run home run Alison Steinker that sealed the deal.
Â
The team now looks to make it three strong weekends in a row as they attempt to sweep their second conference series of the year against the Vikings. They are currently tied for first place in the Big Sky with a 3-0 record.
Â
Following the Portland State series, UNC will return to Greeley as they host in-state rival Colorado State on April 12.
