UNC scored seven unanswered to earn the win over Montana
The Bears scored four in the fifth and three in the sixth after trailing 6-4 through four.
Three UNC batters finished the day with three hits each in Riley Plogger, Paola Villegas and Lauren Strathearn. The trio ended up 9-for-11 in the game scoring six runs, driving in four. Each had an extra base hit, Villegas a double and Plogger and Strathearn each with a triple.
The fifth started with a Gandert double and Strathearn triple as the first four batters reached safely.
For the game, UNC had five extra base hits including a home run from Alexsi Barashkoff.
Gandert added on two more hits in game two, along with teammates Alyssa Wenzel and Carson Fischer. Montana scored seven of its eight runs in the first three innings.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado and Montana faceoff in the rubber match at 1 pm on Saturday. The game will be on ESPN+.
