UNC softball earned a 6-0 win Saturday
HOUSTON – An early Saturday morning start was no problem for Northern Colorado softball as they shut out Texas A&M Corpus Christi 6-0 at the Houston Tournament.
Freshman Meghan Golden shutdown the Corpus Christi bats earning the complete game one-hit shutout. She struck out a career-high 10 batters.
While Golden was keeping the Islander's bats quiet UNC had a pair of three-run innings. The first came in the second inning. It was another freshman, this time Jaycie Gandert who brought home the first two runs of the game. Her single to left scored a pair with two outs.
The Bears proceeded to load the bases and score another run with three straight walks to go up 3-0.
Riley Plogger led off the inning with a double and came home two at-bats later with Kaileigh Holland driving her home. That single was the first of four straight leading to two runs. The final run of the inning came on a Peyton Gale sacrifice fly.
