Holland's Grand Slam Lifts Bears over Aggies

UNC softball closed the weekend with a 6-5 win.
Kaileigh Holland's grand slam in the top of the sixth put the Bears ahead 6-5. The table was set for her with three straight singles from Lauren Streathern, Jaycie Gandert and Riley Plogger.
Northern Colorado took the early lead scoring two in the top half of the first. Gandert led off the game with a single and scored on an NMSU error. UNC's second run of the game came on an Alison Steinker single up the middle.
The Aggies chipped away at the Bears' lead with a run each in the second and third before taking it in the fourth and extending it to 5-2 in the fifth.
Game Notes
- UNC's top of the order in Jaycie Gandert, Riley Plogger and Kaileigh Holland combined to go 6-for-13 with four runs scored and four RBI.
- Holland went 2-for-3 scoring twice and driving home four runs.
- Northern Colorado also had a triple in the game from Paola Villegas.
- Meghan Golden picked up her second win of the year with a complete game allowing nine hits and striking out eight.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado hits the road next week heading to Houston for a tournament hosted by the University of Houston.
