Scouting the Rams
It's a new era in Fort Collins. Keeley Hagen has taken the reigns at Colorado State, becoming the second-ever coach for the program. Hagen has previously been on staff at the University of Texas since 2011.
The Rams played a no-contest against Colorado, lost at Denver in the Colorado Cup, 0-1, in overtime and battled South Dakota to a 0-0 draw so far in 2021.
CSU returns one of its top goal scorers from the spring in Gracie Armstrong. The senior-to-be netted three goals on 21 shots, including one game-winner. Armstrong also landed on the All-Mountain West First Team. Just like the Bears, the Rams feature a host of newcomers as 10 freshmen have made their way to Fort Collins. Hagen also landed Arizona State transfer Amanda Green. The goalkeeper saw action in just two games for the Sun Devils but picked up wins in each.
History against Colorado State
Head coach Tim Barrera will be looking to even the score against the Bears' in-state rival. Since the inception of the CSU program in 2013, UNC is 2-3-1 all-time, with a 1-1-1 mark at Jackson Stadium.
In the six matchups between the two schools, four of them have been decided by one goal along with one tie.
Last Time Out
UNC dropped both its matches at Utah State and Utah over the weekend. However, the Bears created several big chances in both matchups and held Utah State scoreless for 80 minutes after the Aggies scored the opening two goals.
On this Day
The second day of September has been fruitful for Northern Colorado. The Bears own a 7-4-0 overall record with a 5-1-0 mark at home. Dating back to 2011, UNC has a three-game win streak going on the date.
