Freshman Lauren Woodhull's first career goal helps UNC earn the tie
GREELEY, Colo. – Lauren Woodhull's first career goal came just at the right time for Northern Colorado Soccer Thursday night as the Bears tied in-state rival Colorado State 1-1.
UNC turned up the pressure late looking for the equalizer as time was running down. The Bears had back-to-back corner kicks that led to the game-tying goal. Freshly into the match, McKenna Wilson turned in a perfectly placed volley that the freshman Woodhull was able to put home.
In the extra time, UNC had a great chance to send the Jackson Field fans home happy, but Oliva Seddon's shot went just a little too far to the left and off the post.
Both teams came out with energy to burn in the early part of the match. Each with an early shot on goal that was stopped by the respective goalkeepers. The Bears continued to push forward during the first 25 minutes and had a point-blank opportunity in the 18th minute.
Lexie Pully was unable to get enough of her right foot on the ball as CSU kept the game at zeros.
As the half wore on, Colorado State went on the attack. Following a blocked shot from the Bears, CSU was able to regain control of the ball and broke the time with a well-placed ball leading to a header in the 37th minute.
