UNC went 2-0 at the Northern Colorado Classic
GREELEY – A pair of complete games in the circle led Northern Colorado to two wins on Saturday at the Northern Colorado Classic. The Bears defeated Northern Iowa 4-2 and Utah Valley 7-1.
Erin Caviness shut down UNI allowing just three hits and struck out six. She had five 1-2-3 innings.
In the second game of the day, Lainey Hanehan allowed just one run to Utah Valley a day after they put nine up on the Bears. She struck out three over the seven innings of work forcing five UVU runners to be left on base.
UNC had a good day at the plate as well hitting .417 for the day. Mady Young had the big hit of the day with a two-out, bases-clearing double against Utah Valley. The hit was a part of a six-run fourth inning. She finished that
game 3-for-4 with four RBI. She was a home run shy of the cycle.
Reyna Caudillo and Paola Villegas both hit .500 for the two games. Caudillo was 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI. Villegas was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
What's Ahead
The Bears close out the Northern Colorado Classic Sunday by hosting Nebraska-Omaha at 1 pm at Gloria Rodriguez Field.
