Opening Drive
For the second week in a row Northern Colorado heads on the road to face an FBS team. This week they go to Pullman, Washington to battle against Washington State.Â
The Bears are coming off a hard-fought game in week one where they fell to San Jose State 35-18. In the game Collin Root matched his career-high for field goals in a game with three.Â
WSU opened its 2019 campaign by cruising to a 58-7 win over New Mexico State. The Cougars accumulated over 600 yards of offense including over 500 of them through the air.Â
Saturday's game is the first between the two programs and the second of three for Northern Colorado this season having already played at San Jose State and later on hosting Idaho.

3 - Collin Root matched his career-high with three made field goals in the season opener against SJSU. Root tied for the program's third-longest field goal with a 52-yarder as one of the three kicks.
5 - Five Bears earned their first career starts in the season opener. True freshman linebacker David Hoage along with redshirt freshman defensive lineman Joe Golden, defensive back Greg Laday, wide receiver Jaren Mitchell and offensive lineman Max Bruner.Â
12 - Junior safety Jerone Jackson seat a personal high with 12 against San Jose State
About the Cougars
• Under head coach, Mike Leach Washington State is known for its prolific offensive attack and it showed in the season opener when they raked up 618 yards.
• Sophomore running back Max Borghi had an impressive season opener rushing for 128 yards on 10 carries and scoring once.Â
• In his first start for the Cougars, quarterback Anthony Gordon completed over 80.0% of his passes as he ended up with 420 yards and five touchdowns.Â
• The Bears will see a familiar face across from them in WSU backup QB Gage Gubrud who transferred to Pullman from Eastern Washington.Â
• Washington State's defense was opportunistic against New Mexico State forcing three turnovers. Â
• WSU was picked to finish fourth in the PAC 12 North Division in 2019 behind Washington, Oregon and Stanford.

UNC concludes its three consecutive games on the road by heading back to California this time to face Sacramento State. The Bears and Hornets kick off on September 14 at 7 pm MDT / 6 pm PDT. The game between the two Big Sky schools does not count as a conference game.
