Northern Colorado football ran for over 200 yards against #21/22 Washington State
Milo Hall had a big day for the Bears carrying the ball 31 times for 113 yards and a score. The team eclipsed the 200 yard mark finishing with 216 yards on 54 carries.
Hall put the Bears on the scoreboard after Washington State scored on their first drive of the game. UNC's eight play, 75 yard drive was capped off by Hall's 11-yard TD run.
The Cougars ended up scoring a touchdown on their first three drives of the game to gain breathing room from the Bears.
Northern Colorado's defense stopped the Cougars twice in the second quarter and was able to cut the gap to 21-10 on Collin Root's 50-yard field goal.
In the second half, WSU pulled away from UNC once again scoring on their first three drives of the half.
What They Said
Head Coach Earnest Collins Jr
"I thought our kids fought today. When you play an offense like Washington State's it's tough. They get the ball out fast and then if you drop eight, he has all day to throw. There were times we gave them too much time to throw but overall I felt like we fought all game. Defensively, Leach has found a defensive scheme that matches what he does offensively. We moved the ball well on the ground and now just need to find a way to pass the ball and protect our quarterback better."
Game Notes
- Milo Hall became the first Bear since Brandon Cartagena in 2017 to carry the ball 25 or more times. He ended the day with 31 carries.
- The 100 yards rushing game for Hall was his third as a Bear.
- Hall sits 57 yards shy of 1,000 rushing yards for his career as a Bear.
- Jace Bobo recorded the first interception of his career.
- James Stanton earned his first career start on Saturday.
- Cole Ingersoll saw his first career action as a Bear and ran for 42 yards on four carries including a 28-yard touchdown.
