UNC track & field won 16 events and set 22 personal records in Friday's UNC Invite
Northern Colorado track & field put together a strong performance at its own meet in the UNC Invite on Friday by winning 16 events and setting 22 new personal records.
Antoine Coates won a pair of events on the day for UNC taking the 200 and 400 meter races. He finished the 200 in a time of 21.22 and ran the 400 by crossing the line in 47.94.
On the women's side, Mackenzie Pettit was a part of two first place finishes on Friday, taking the title in the high jump in a jump off over Air Force's Kendra Middleton and on the 4x100 relay winning team. The duo each cleared the bar at 1.62 meters to force the jump off. On the 4x100 relay team that won in a time of 48.64, Pettit was the anchor for the team that included Blair Bernhardt, Claire Harris and Semaye Johnson.
The 4x100 relay was one of three events that Northern Colorado swept on both the men's and women's side. The team of Demetrius Graves, Greg Laday, Deondre Ritter and Kyle Thomas won the men's 4x100 with a time of 40.74.

The other two events where the Bears won on both the men's and women's side were the 200 dash and long jump. Kelsi Schuetz set a new PR in winning the 200 by crossing the line in 24.52 to join her counterpart in Coates in sweeping the event. Both McKenna McGrath and Thierry N'Seboko set personal records with their winning long jumps. McGrath won the women's side by earning a mark of 5.61m and N'Seboko won the men's side with a 6.79m jump.

Three other PR's were set in first place efforts coming from Brooke Walker in the pole vault, Ashley Register in the triple jump and Isaiah Remington in the 1500. Walker cleared the height of 3.61m while Register jumped a 12.03m. Remington ran a 4:00.98 in the 5000.

The other first place finishes for UNC came from Stephen Haas (10,000 m; 30:59.37), Deondre Ritter (100 m; 10.87), Mackenzie Howie (400 h; 1:02.37), Josh Rogerson (5000 m; 15:44.39), and the 4x400 team of Luke Gordley, Ethan Hitchcock, Jalen Lyon and Adam Stark (3:20.59).
What's ahead
Northern Colorado hits the road next week heading to the west coast and Irvine, California to compete in the Steve Scott Invite. The meet is the second to last meet of the outdoor regular season for UNC as they prepare for the Big Sky Championships May 8-11 in Missoula, Montana.
