Campbell Posts Second-Fastest Career Time at Olympic Trial

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jerome Campbell posted the second-fastest time of his career in the 110-meter Hurdles on the fourth and final day of the Jamaican Olympic Trials at National Stadium Sunday.
In front of friends and family in his hometown, Campbell ran a 13.32, .02 off his best time, which he posted May 24, at the 2024 NCAA Track & Field West Regionals, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
"I am proud of Jerome and everything he accomplished this season," Wayne Angel, UNC Director of Track & Field and Cross Country said. "I know he is disappointed right now but think about it, he is a little over 15 months removed from a season-ending injury and finished sixth in his country, one of the best in the world.
Campbell placed sixth in a hotly contested race, with the top six times within 14-hundredths of a second. Rasheed Broadbell, Orlando Bennett – 2018 Silver Medalist at the World U20 Championships and Hansle Parchment – two-time Olympic Medalist, including gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics secured the three spots on the Jamaican Olympic Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics with a photo finish.
Broadbell (13.18) edged out Bennett (13.18), with Parchment (13.19) in third. Omar McLeod and Tyler Mason crossed the line in 13.22.behind winning time set by and Campbell finished .13 behind the third and final spot on the Jamaican Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
McLeod won gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Olympics, and three NCAA championships. He won back-to-back indoor titles in the 60m Hurdles in 2014 and 2015, before finishing first in the 110m Hurdles at the outdoor championships.
Mason earned silver at the 2014 World Championships and bronze at the 2016 U23 North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Championships.
