Greeley, Co.- The Bears continue their winning momentum today as they win in overtime with a penalty shot by Olivia Seddon in the 97 minute of play. The Bears now move to a 2-0-2 position in conference play.
Â
The Bears came out aggressive against the Wildcats as they possessed the ball 61% of the time in their attacking half, and staying crisp when it came to their passing game. Although both teams went into the half with zero goals, Taylor Bray lead the Bears in the with two shots against the Wildcats.
Â
Haley O'Nan, Mackenzie Bray and Kenzie Engelkins all had one shot for the Bears. Three total corner kicks were made in the first half creating a lot of opportunities, but there were no connections made in the box. On the other end of the field, Ashley Franza had four saves for the Bears going into halftime. Â
Â
Both the Bears and the Wildcats hashed it out in the second half with lots of action. In the 26 minutes of play, Franza had a crucial save for the Bears as she had a one-on-one with Weber State's Olivia Barton, keeping the Bears alive and in the game.
Â
Regulation wasn't enough time for these two teams to find a winner as the game entered the first half of overtime. It wasn't long though until a hand ball was drawn in the Wildcat's box, allowing an opportunity for Olivia Seddon to end the game with an outstanding penalty kick.
Â
Bray continued to lead the Bears with the most shots today at four, followed by Maddie Duren with two shots. Franza faced two more shots for the rest of the game, totaling six saves against the Wildcats. Â
