UNC looks to keep their undefeated record in the Big Sky
The Bears get back on the road this weekend after sweeping their first Big Sky homestand of 2019. UNC defeated Idaho State, 3-1 on Friday and then pulled off a dramatic overtime win against Weber State, 1-0 on Sunday.
The Bears have found their groove since the beginning of Big Sky competition, currently sitting in third in the conference with a 2-0-2 record and 4-8-3 overall.Â
Maddie Barkow earned Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after playing an integral part in the Bears back row defense that allowed only a single goal in the two wins. In the overtime win, Barkow was responsible for the (flip) throw-in that drew the Wildcats handball penalty. The play was in the box and Olivia Seddon scored off the penalty shot to give UNC the win.
Against Idaho State, Barkow was involved in facilitating two of the UNC's three goals. Barkow is fourth on the team with 996 minutes after playing in all 15 of the team's games, including 12 starts.
Seddon leads UNC and is tied for ninth in the conference with three goals this season, recording seven total points. The game-winning goal was the first of Seddon's career.
UNC travels for two games this weekend and looks to continue to move up in the Big Sky standings.
