@NCBearsBaseball Falls to Seattle In Slugfest

Northern Colorado and Seattle combined for 23 runs and 28 hits in their game Thursday afternoon
The two teams combined for 28 hits to go along with the 23 runs scored in the game. Seven different players recorded multiple hits and five had multiple RBIs.
Seattle U got the scoring going first, with two runs in the top of the first. The Redhawks saw their first three hitters getting on base, and first two scoring. Starter Dylan Shiraki (Honokaa,Hawaii) calmed down after that inducing a double play and fly out to end the inning.
Northern Colorado responded right back in the bottom half of the first though. Jensen Park (Kaneohe, Hawaii) led it off with a seeing eye single up the middle, but was erased as Nick Tanner (Foothills Ranch, Calif.) reached on a fielder's choice.
Brandon Vaughn (Louisville, Colo.) when then reach on a single through the left side to put two on for Cole Maltese (Superior, Colo.). Maltese give the Bears the lead taking a 0-2 pitch to left center field and over the fence for his sixth home run of the year.
For the game Maltese went 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored, just missing out on hitting for the cycle by a triple.
The Redhawks would load the bases in the bottom of the second, but only score one run as Tanner cut down the second run at the plate with a great throw from right field.
UNC reclaimed the lead again in the bottom of the second. Jake Garcia (Albuquerque, N.M.) led off the inning reaching base on an error by the SU shortstop. Jacob Ek (Columbus, Neb.) would record his 15th sacrifice of the year moving Garcia over to second, and he advanced to third on a wild pitch.
Park would record his second hit of the game with single to center field. He would continue to raise his nationally ranked fourth overall batting average getting two more hits to have a 4-for-5 day. He scored one run and drove in two more to go with his four hits.
The next two hitters in Tanner and Vaughn would reach on a walk and fielder's choice to bring Maltese up to bat. He would deliver with a single up the middle to score Tanner and have UNC up 5-3 through two.
Just like after the first, Seattle responded again after the second. Sheldon Stober would hit SU's first home run of the game to make it a 5-4 game.
The scoring didn't stop there for either team though as UNC responded and grew its lead in the bottom half of the inning. Dan Reese (Casper, Wyo.) led it off with a triple to dead center field. Joe Love (Danville, Calif.) would put runners on the corner when he was hit by a pitch. Reese came around to score when a confused Redhawks infield allowed Ek to reach safely on an infield bunt single making it 6-4.
After SU added another run in the top half of the fourth, UNC would add two runs in the bottom half to make it an 8-5 game.
Maltese would continue his great day with an RBI double to bring home Vaughn. He would would score his second run of the game when Dan Reese walked on a ball four wild pitch.
Seattle would get within one run again on a two run home run in the fifth.
The Bears would respond with a home run of their own as Park went deep to left field for a solo shot to increase the lead to 9-7.
Seattle's offense put it all together in the top of the sixth exploding for five runs on four hits. They would add on another two runs in the ninth to win by a final score of 14-9.
UNC and SU will face each other again tomorrow for game two of the three game series with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
