SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Summit League announced its 2026 All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon, with three Bears earning recognition for their work in the classroom and competition.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Undergraduate GPA is used unless the nominee has completed at least one full academic year of graduate coursework, in which case their cumulative graduate GPA is considered.
Nominees must also have completed at least one full academic year at their current institution, making freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for the award. Additionally, student-athletes are required to have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's completed competitions. For baseball, participation in at least 20 percent of the team's total contests is required.
Left-handed pitcher Gus Allred earned a spot on the Academic team while maintaining an impressive 3.98 GPA as a Computer Science major. Allred appeared in 18 games during the 2026 season, totaling 31.2 innings pitched.
Right-handed pitcher Jake Storey also placed on the Academic team, posting a perfect 4.00 GPA in Business Administration. Storey appeared in 16 games with 14 starts, logging 67.2 innings and tallying 58 strikeouts on the year.
Rounding out the honors, Infielder Brandon Sanchez was honored with a 3.89 GPA in Business Administration. The junior appeared in 51 games, making 44 starts while anchoring the hot corner for the Bears.
