Northern Colorado came back from a three run deficit to tie the game, but couldn't get the elusive game winning run
GREELEY – Unlike yesterday's game that featured 25 runs between Northern Colorado and Seattle, Friday's game featured just nine runs scored. In a tightly contested affair, the Redhawks (28-25, 18-8 WAC) edged out the Bears (16-29, 12-14 WAC) 5-4 with the winning run scoring in the top of the ninth inning.
After UNC tied the game in the seventh inning, Seattle took advantage of its opportunity in the ninth. After turning over the order, they put men on first and second with one out via a single and hit by pitch. The Bears were able to get the second out of the inning before Sheldon Stober drove in his third run of the game with a bloop single to center field, securing Seattle's win.
SU scored first in the game with a run in the third inning. After back-to-back line outs the Redhawks worked two consecutive walks to put two on. The next batter hit an RBI single through the left side to bring in the first run of the game.
UNC got the run back in the bottom half of the inning. Jensen Park (Kaneohe, Hawaii) got things started when he was hit by a pitch to lead off. Reyn Sugai (Honolulu, Hawaii) singled putting two on for Brandon Vaughn (Louisville, Colo.). Vaughn delivered getting a ball through the left side to bring home Park.

Park and Sugai combined to go 4-for-8 on the day scoring three runs. Park extended his hit streak to 14 games.
SU responded right away in the top of the fourth when Griffin Anderychuk hit his second home run in as many days to put the Redhawks up 2-1.
Seattle extended its lead to 3-1 with another solo home run in the fifth from Sheldon Stober, and added another run in the fifth to go up 4-1.
Northern Colorado rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. Park and Sugai both reached on back-to-back singles to begin the inning. Vaughn put down a sacrifice bunt that was mishandled by the Seattle pitcher as he threw it into right field allowing Park to score with Sugai and Vaughn getting to second and third.
After a couple of strike outs Joe Love (Dansville, Calif.) delivered the game tying hit. On the first pitch of the at bat the Redhawks right fielder made a diving attempt, but missed bringing in two runs to start a brand new ball game tied at four apiece.
Love led the team with three hits and the two RBI he drove in during the rally.
The two teams went scoreless in the eighth, before Seattle scored its game winning run in the ninth.
UNC will close out its regular season on Saturday with the final game of the series against Seattle starting at 11:00 am. The Bears will recognize their graduating seniors after the game.
