GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado softball team will open up it's 2015 conference campaign tomorrow when they take on Sacramento State on the road. The Bears will play two games on Friday, March 20 at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. and Saturday March 21 at 12:00 p.m.
"We are looking forward to beginning conference play tomorrow and all of our goals for this season are still in front of us," said heach coach Shana Easley. "We have a great opportunity to set the tone for our conference play this weekend."
Sacramento State comes into the contest with an overall record of 10-16 with a batting average of .279 as a team and a 3.60 ERA from their pitching staff.
The Hornets are led by junior Sasha Marqulies who is currently hitting .400 on the year. Marqulies also leads the team with 14 RBI and seven doubles, along with two homeruns.
The Bears come into the game on an eight game losing streak and will look to seniors Melissa Marcovecchio and Kaitlin Flynn to spark the team. Marcovecchio is currently second on the team in batting average with .351 and Flynn is fourth, batting .264.
Flynn also leads the team im homeruns, with four.
