@bearssoftball Splits Day 2 in Mexico

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – On day two of the Triple Crown Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, UNC took to the field taking on BYU at 9: 00 a.m. with a game against Nevada following at 11:00 a.m. Northern Colorado dropped the first game by a heartbreaking score of 5-4, but rebounded against Nevada in tight game winning, 2-1.
GAME 1
UNC jumped out to another quick lead in this game scoring three runs in the bottom of the first after holding BYU to zero.
BYU got on the board in the top of the second scoring one run cutting the Bears lead to two.
The pitchers took over the next two inning dealing goose eggs for their squads.
The duo of Jayme Reddacliff and Kelli Kleis commaned the circle for the Bears, with Reddacliff going 4.1 innings, and Kleis pitching 2.2. Each girl recorded two strikeouts in the game.
BYU found their bats in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs, while taking the lead 4-3.
In the bottom of the fifth, Jenna Jordan hit a sac fly, scoring Morgan Yuhas on the play and tying the game at 4 runs for each ball club.
The Bears held off BYU in the sixth, but the Cougars proved to be too much, hitting a walk off homerun in the seventh to win the game 5-4.
GAME 2
The Bears rebounded from a first game heartbreaker, to pitch a gem in the second game.
The duo was back at, giving up on giving up only seven hits on the game with a total of four strikeouts.
Reddacliff and Kleis only gave up one run on the game, completely shutting down the Nevada offense, for a 2-1 victory.
The Bears earned their two runs in the top of the first when Yuhas went yard scoring Mikayla Duffy on the play.
Northern Colorado won the pitching battle giving Nevada their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
UNC moves to 4-5-1 on the season with the win.
The Bears will be back at it tomorrow in their final game against Nevada with the first pitching taking place at 4:00 p.m.
