Softball Splits Doubleheader at Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. — Northern Colorado split its Big Sky Conference doubleheader Friday at Grizzly Softball Stadium, falling 10-0 in game one before responding with a 10-1 victory in game two.
GAME ONE: Montana 10, Northern Colorado 0 (6 inn.)
Montana broke a scoreless game open late, scoring eight runs in the sixth inning to secure a 10-0 win in the opener.
The Bears were limited to three hits in the contest, with KK Christie, Ella Gonzales and Emma Harrington each recording a hit.
Anna Wilming held Montana to two runs through the first five innings before the Grizzlies capitalized in the sixth to pull away.
GAME TWO: Northern Colorado 10, Montana 1 (6 inn.)
Northern Colorado responded in the nightcap with a dominant offensive performance, scoring 10 runs on 12 hits to even the doubleheader.
The Bears struck early with three runs in the second inning, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Krista Francia and Kenzie Carter to take a 3-1 lead.
Northern Colorado added four runs in the fifth, powered by a three-run home run from Hayden Nelson, before tacking on three more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Francia led the offense with three hits and four RBIs, while Nelson added three RBIs and Morales finished with three hits.
In the circle, Grace Algrim earned the win, allowing just one run on five hits over six innings while striking out five.
