UNC Loses Series 2-1

GREELEY, Colo. – Jake Storey recorded the longest outing of his season but settled for a no-decision Sunday at Jackson Field.

Story left with a lead after allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks. He struck out a season-high seven in over 5.0 innings of work.

UNC fell to 8-15 on the season, including 3-3 in Summit League play, with the 11-8 loss to North Dakota State (6-16, 3-3).

The Bears built a 6-2 lead, with three innings remaining, but the Bison rallied with four in the seventh and three in the eighth.

Brandon Sanchez opened the scoring with a two-out base-on-balls, with the bags packed in the fourth.

A lead-off walk, followed by a single and three-base error pushed North Dakota State in front 2-1 midway through the contest.

UNC sent seven batters to the plate, with four scoring and retaking the lead 6-2 in the home half of the fifth. Tony Castonguay and Jake Bullard delivered RBI hits and Craig Kenny plated Bullard on a sacrifice fly.

North Dakota State tallied nine runs over the final four stanzas.

UNC netted a solo marker on Castonguay's third run-batted-in of the game in the sixth and brought the tying run to the dish with two in the ninth.

The Bears return to Jackson Field Friday, April 11, when they open a three-game series against Oral Roberts at 2 p.m.
