GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado baseball dropped game two of its weekend series to Oral Roberts on Friday afternoon at Jackson Field.
Northern Colorado found its offensive spark in the second inning, cutting into an early deficit behind a two-RBI single from Ethan Sanchez, who finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's to lead the Bears at the plate. Jaden Stone added a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4, while Mason Griffin chipped in with a double as part of his one-hit day.
After trimming the deficit to 4-2, the Bears were held scoreless over the final seven innings. The Golden Eagles capitalized on opportunities throughout the game, highlighted by a late offensive surge that broke the contest open.
On the mound, Trevor Landen took the loss after allowing four runs across three innings of work. The Bears used multiple arms out of the bullpen, including solid relief from Brady Hudson, who struck out three in a scoreless inning, but a difficult eighth inning allowed Oral Roberts to extend its lead.
Saturday's series finale against Oral Roberts will also serve as Senior Day for Northern Colorado baseball. The Bears will honor their senior class prior to first pitch in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the program throughout their careers at UNC.
