COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado dropped a midweek affair against The Air Force Academy at Erdle Field Tuesday.

The top of the Bears' offense delivered nine of their 12 hits and scored all six runs with five RBIs.

Zain Zinicola, Caden Wagner and Garret Fisher tallied two hits each. Brandon Sanchez, Kai Wagner, Jake Wright, Jackson Romero, Jackson Meier and Dalton Miller accounted for a knock each.

Just two batters into the contest, UNC (6-25-1) opened the scoring. Zinicola laced the game's first pitch into left centerfield and scampered around the bases with his league-leading fifth triple. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Sanchez.

Air Force (13-18) evened the score in the home half of the first before scoring seven runs in each of the next two frames. The Falcons tacked on four in the fourth and four in the sixth for a 23-6 final.

Zinicola created the Bears' second tally, leading off the third with a single and moving to third on an error by the Falcons' backstop. He scored on a groundout by Caden Wagner.

In the fifth, UNC netted three runs on RBI knocks by Kai Wagner, Fisher and Romero. With one out, Caden Wagner singled through the left side of the defense and scored from first on a triple by his younger brother. Fisher dropped a single in front of the left fielder plating Kai Wagner, before scoring on an RBI single by Romero.

Kai Wagner drove in the final run for UNC, plating Sanchez on a groundout in the sixth inning. After reaching on a one-out knock, Sanchez moved to third on a single by Caden Wagner.

Mason Bright made his second consecutive midweek start, the first of six pitchers for UNC in the game.
