Northern Colorado Splits Doubleheader on Day 2 of Texas State Tournament

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Northern Colorado softball defeated Sam Houston 5-0 and dropped game two versus Sam Houston 4-3 on the second day of the Texas State Tournament.
In the opener, the Bears struck first in its part of the third inning when junior Sabrina Javorsky doubled to right center field to push across what would turn out to be the game-winning run.
The Bears put the game out of reach in the fifth inning.
Sophomore Amailee Morales doubled to left center to score two runs, and senior Alyssa Wenzel tripled to right center field to add two more runs. Senior Erin Caviness tossed a complete-game shutout allowed two hits and fanned 10 batters.

The Bears part of the third inning, Strathearn delivered an RBI single, and Morales followed that with an RBI double to right center field to tie the game at 2-2. Quinn Myers-Lenz scored on an error in the sixth inning to bring the Bears to within 4-3.
Isabelle DiNapoli threw a complete game. DiNapoli scattered 8 hits, allowed 4 runs (2 earned) and 3 walks, and struck out 5.
