Northern Colorado Rally Falls Short vs. Texas Tech

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Northern Colorado rallied late and narrowly fell short 10-9 versus Texas Tech in the final game of the Texas State Tournament.
The match-up went back and forth with five different lead changes.
TTU led 10-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning, and true freshman Emma Harrington hit her first career home run that sailed over the left field wall to cut the deficit to within one.
The Bears used a big second inning to take an initial lead. Senior Lauren Strathearn delivered an RBI single up the middle and junior Sabrina Javorsky added an RBI to bring UNC to within 4-3. Sophomore Ella Gonzales doubled to right field to score three runs and the Bears led 6-4.
Sophomores Amailee Morales and Ella Gonzales added RBI singles in the fourth inning, and the Bears led 8-5.
The Red Raiders added runs in the fifth and sixth innings and took a 10-8 lead.
Sophomore Grace Algrim started in the circle and was credited with the no-decision. Algrim tossed 4 1/3 innings and allowed 8 hits, 7 runs (3 earned), and 1 walk while fanning 5. True freshman Araya Ogden entered in relief and absorbed the setback. Ogden threw 1 2/3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 walks while striking out 2 batters.
