COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Regina Mpigachai demolished the field at the Golden Eagle Invitational – hosted by Tennessee Tech – gapping the field by more than two minutes on the Putnam County Sports Complex 6,000-meter course.
She won for the third time in four races this fall, setting a school record time of 19:31.7.
"Regina continues to look stronger and stronger as we get closer to championship season," associate head coach Stormie Sickler said. "She looked incredibly composed and strong despite having to work alone."
Mpigachai helped the Bears to a second-place finish, with the top five Bears in the top 10. UNC and Tennessee Tech each placed five runners in the top 11 spots, with the Golden Eagles edging out the Bears for the team win by two points.
Mpigachai, Summer Olson, and Brooke Elfert each set personal best times at 6K.
"Our women continue to look better each time they get the opportunity to race," Sickler said. "I am excited to see how we perform at the Big Sky Conference Championships next weekend as we begin to reach our training peak.
