GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado hosts St. Thomas in a pivotal Summit League clash from Jackson Field. It's the home-opening series for the Bears and the first home game under the leadership of new UNC head baseball coach Mike Anderson.

Series History vs. St. Thomas

This is the second time the two programs will meet in the Summit League series. UNC and STU played a three-game series last season in St. Paul, Minnesota, which the Tommies won 2-1. However, the series was close with the Bears' two setbacks coming by a combined three runs. UNC's lone win in the series was a 7-4 decision.

Bears' Offense Coming in Hot

Austin Bunn has risen to the top of the Bears' offense. Bunn is batting a team-high .324 to go along with 11 RBI, six doubles, and one home run. Bunn also finds a way to get on base and has drawn 11 walks. Jake King is batting .305 and has added 11 RBI along with six doubles. Caden Wagner has been a force in the middle of the UNC lineup, leading the team with 18 RBI and four home runs.

Wagner Named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week

Wagner was named the Summit League's Peak Performer of the Week for the opening weekend in league play.

Wagner hit .600 in Northern Colorado's Summit League series win over South Dakota State, including a 5-for-8 effort in the Bears' two wins. He also scored four runs, four RBI, and three extra-base hits against the Jackrabbits.

In the series opener, Wagner's three-run homer in the eighth put the Bears ahead for good. He capped the series with a season-high three hits and scored twice as UNC took the finale, 9-6. The Parker, Colo., native reached base in all five of the Bears' games last week.
