Softball Begins Conference Play at Sacramento

GREELEY, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado softball team hits the road this weekend to begin Big Sky Conference action, taking on the Sacramento State Hornets in a three-game series, March 31-April 1.
UNC and Sac State play in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. (MT) on Friday, with a single game starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Sacramento State enters the weekend with a record of 15-11, while the Bears sit at 12-14.
Lauren Strathearn leads the Big Sky with a .390 batting average, and as the Bears' leadoff hitter, she holds a .419 on-base percentage (seventh best in the Big Sky). Strathearn also leads the Big Sky for hits, with 32 in 82 at-bats.
In the circle for UNC, Erin Caviness enters with an 8-4 record, having pitched a league-leading 82.0 innings this season. Her ERA of 3.16 also ranks fourth in the Big Sky, while she leads all conference pitchers with 80 strikeouts.
