Olivier, Johnson Win Big Sky Titles

Northern Colorado's men's team earned its highest finish since 2010
POCATELLO, Idaho – Northern Colorado Track & Field had a strong effort at the 2022 Big Sky Outdoor Championships with seven podium finishes including two champions. UNC's men's team earned its highest finish since 2010 taking seventh place.
Sophomore Welre Olivier won his second straight triple jump title with a mark of 15.92m. The jump moved him up to 10th in the West Region and 22nd in the nation. Olivier also earned points for the team in the long jump taking fourth with a leap of 7.33m.
On the track, Craiesha Johnson came from behind to win the women's 400m hurdles by 7/10,000ths of a second. She just beat out Emily Barnes-Sterzer of Weber State at the time of 1:00.00. Johnson was also on the women's 4x400 team that claimed second with a time of 3:45.74 and fifth place finishing 4x100 team crossing the line in 47.12.
Three other Bears podiumed at the Championships in Jerome Campbell, Regina Mpigachai and Qwazon Al-Khaliq. Campbell doubled up on the podium taking second in the 100m dash and third in the 110, hurdles. He crossed the line with times of 10.57 and 13.92, respectively.
Al-Khaliq helped UNC go 1-2 in the triple jump with his mark of 15.83m. Mpigachai took third in the 800m with a time of 2:09.59.
Two other individuals earned points for Northern Colorado in Wendira Moss and Tyler Thimsen. Moss placed fourth in the 400m with a time of 55.45. Meanwhile, Thimsen placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.41m.
The Bears' men's 4x100 and 4x400 teams each finished fifth with times of 41.21 and 3:17.33, respectively.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado now awaits the NCAA regional selections to see who will head to the NCAA West Regionals in Fayetteville, Arkansas May 25-28.
