Track and Field Season Ends at NCAA West Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 2021-22 athletic season came to an end for the University of Northern Colorado on Friday. The Bears' final trio of competing athletes ended their season at the NCAA West Regionals competing in the triple jump. Qwazon Al-Kahliq, Welre Olivier and Tyler Thimsen represented the Blue & Gold
Olivier and Al-Kahliq just missed out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Eugene finishing 13th and 14th, respectively with the top 12 advancing. Olivier came into the weekend with some confidence after winning his second straight outdoor Big Sky Title a week prior. His best jump of the regional was a mark of 15.84m, missing out by 0.04m of advancing.
Al-Kahliq finished with a mark of 0.11m behind his teammate at 15.73m.
Thimsen concluded his second trip to the regional with a mark of 14.73m to finish 40th.
Jerome Campbell also competed at the NCAA West Regionals finishing 30th on Wednesday.
