Bears Stay Alive, Eliminate Griz

Northern Colorado advanced in the Big Sky Tournament with a 6-2 win over Montana
OGDEN, Utah – Northern Colorado Softball kept its season alive defeating Montana 6-2 on Thursday afternoon. UNC used timely hits and a strong effort in the circle from Isabelle DiNapoli to survive and advance.
The Bears wasted no time getting on the board with a pair of runs in the first inning. Riley Plogger led off the game with an infield single. It was her first of two hits in the game.
She would come around to score in the first and drove home a run with a stand-up triple in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-0.
Freshman Peyton Gale had a good day at the plate going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. The RBIs came on a pair of singles in the first and fifth.
Two other Bears reached base three times on the day in Kaileigh Holland who was 1-for-2 with two walks, while Alyssa Wenzel was 2-for-3 with one walk.
Isabelle DiNapoli pitched 6.0 innings allowing just one run on six hits. She picked up her fifth win of the year by stranding eight Griz.

Northern Colorado's season continues Friday in another elimination game. This time against Portland State, with first pitch at noon.
