Softball to Open Conference Play at Southern Utah
3/24/2022 11:28:00 AM | Softball
GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Softball will open Big Sky Conference play as they face Southern Utah in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
Â
The Bears will bring momentum from their most recent wins at the Red Raider Invitational hosted by Texas Tech, where the team split the weekend 2-2. UNC fell to the host team twice during their time in Lubbock but swept Incarnate Word in memorable fashion.
Â
The last time they took the field, freshman Meghan Golden broke a program record previously held since 2016, with 15 strikeouts in a 6-1 victory over Incarnate Word. The team then followed this up the next day with another win, this time a 10-9 walk off. This was thanks to strong offensive efforts and the game winning hit from Kaileigh Holland.
Â
Northern Colorado will kick things off against the Thunderbirds with a double header on Friday beginning at 1 pm. They will then play their final game of the weekend at noon on Saturday.
Â
UNC will then return home to Gloria Rodriguez Field as they host Colorado Mines on Wednesday for a double header beginning at 3 pm.
