Bears drop series finale at Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – Northern Colorado wrapped up its first series of the year on Sunday. Freshman Kevin Sharp pitched masterfully in relief but a big first inning from the Tigers gave the home side the win, 10-0.
Pacific wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard. Eight hits produced one crooked number and gave the Tigers a 9-0 lead.
Stepping in for Dylan Day, freshman Kevin Sharp settled things down quite nicely.
Nothing flashy for the young man out of Lafayette, California but effective nonetheless. Across six-plus innings, the righty blanked Pacific with one strikeout, relying on a Northern Colorado defense that refused to commit an error on Sunday.
Fellow freshman Jake King kicked the seventh inning off with a double down the right-field line but the Bears weren't able to capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
Jake King, who played the majority of the weekend in the outfield, got his first appearance on the mound this season.
King pitched one full inning and gave up just one run.
Chase Cromer earned a walk to in the top of the ninth and dashed over to second on a wild pitch. UNC wasn't able to bring home the junior from Texas, though, falling 10-0 in the series finale.
Game Notes
Northern Colorado travels to San Jose for a midweek contest on Tuesday before driving north to Moraga for a four-game set with Saint Mary's.

- Shaydon Kubo and Garrett Fisher each extended their reached base streak to four games.
- Carson Gross is now 2-2 in stolen bases this season.
