5/2/2021 3:30:00 PM | Baseball
Aggressive base running has been a theme all series long for the Bears. In the top of the second, it was the heady play of Matt Burkart that led to a stolen base and eventually the first run of the ballgame.
As wind any weather stumbled towards Jackson Field, it must have been blowing in the direction of Stevensville, Texas. Six runs on four hits in the top of the third inning handed the Texans the lead back.B2 | Just in time‼️

Carl Iwasaki's Bears were ready to fight, though. UNC pushed across two runs, including an RBI triple from Garrett Fisher, in the bottom half of the frame to dig into the lead. 6-3.
Following an hour of lightning and rain delay, it was Tarleton who came out raring to go.B3 | That will be an RBI triple for Fisher with Kubo scoring!!

Seven runs on five hits highlighted the top of the sixth, leaving Northern Colorado needing at least a run to force an eighth or ninth inning.
A Quinn Ayers triple did just the trick. Not only did Ayers bring in Matt Burkart but Ayers crossed the plate himself following thanks to Hayden Heinze.
The top of the seventh featured the return of George Thompson. Following a bevy of injuries and setbacks, Thompson defied all the odds to return to pitch in his final appearance at home.
Ultimately, the Texans didn't feel like playing the full alotment, scoring eight runs in the top of the seventh and leaving town with the 21-5 victory.B6 | Bears bring in two more runs!!
