Bears drop pitching duel to Oregon State

UNC softball fell to Oregon State 5-0 Saturday
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Northern Colorado and Oregon State found themselves in a pitching duel Saturday morning at Rams Field in Fort Collins. OSU ended up scoring four runs in the sixth to come away with the 5-0.
Erin Caviness kept the Oregon State's bats quiet through the first three innings allowing just one hit and striking out three batters.
The Beavers broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run.
UNC continued to put a runner on the base paths but was unable to put together a rally.
In the sixth, OSU took control of the game with four runs on five hits and a UNC error to go up 5-0.
Alison Steinker led off the seventh with a double, but that would be the end of a comeback effort.
Game Notes
- Steinker had two of UNC's three hits on the day going 2-for-3 with a double.
- Erin Caviness pitched all six innings for the Bears. She struck out four and allowed five runs on nine hits, only three of the runs were earned.
What's Ahead
It will be another early morning for the Bears as they close out the Colorado Classic on Sunday. UNC will once again take on Oregon State at 9 am and follow it up with a contest against South Dakota State at 11:30 am. Both games will be at Gloria Rodriguez Field.
